MDB in tie-up with US health firms
by The Business Desk
A BOLTON software consultancy is working with US healthcare providers on a system that will allow them to monitor patients by mobile phone.
MDB Consulting is developing the system with a quoted group and a US division of a multi-national healthcare business.
The mobile phone software will allow patients to record daily changes in conditions such as diabetes or monitor cases where pain management is required.
MDB's managing director Martin Bell said: "This product is in development and they're helping us define the requirements for this application. We're hoping to get it out at the start of the year."
MDB, which employs 10 staff and has a turnover of around £750,000, is hoping the deal will give it a foothold in the lucrative US healthcare market.
Mr Bell added: "This is a way in to the US market and the healthcare market in general. Things tend to happen over there first but it could be a pioneering process for the NHS."
Mr Bell founded the business in 2004. It focuses on providing bespoke software packages to a range of clients including Betfred, Quantas and United Utilities.
