Genesis Sports design, manufacture and supply superior quality sportswear and merchandise.
Genesis Sports is the Licensee for PRO Teamsports for PUMA in the UK and Ireland and has been PUMA’s Licensee for the past eight years.
Genesis design, manufacture and deliver the technical kit and trainingwear for their portfolio of contracted clubs including Reading FC, Sheffield Wednesday FC, Cardiff City FC, Falkirk FC, Cliftonville FC, Bath Rugby and St. Helens Rugby League.
Requirements
Genesis required:
- New website design and build
- Content management system
- Secure e-commerce solution
- Integration with an existing stock management system.
Issues
Genesis required a solution which allowed complete control of the site to remain in-house and a technology which allowed further extension of the site's functionality such as a bespoke sportswear system.
The e-commerce system had to integrate with a separate stock management system and create a reciprical communication flow between the two channels.
Solution
MDB used a content management system they had many years experience with to build the system. This CMS allowed Genesis to control every aspect of the site from design to the products in the e-commerce section.
MDB developed an importer to allow the CMS to communicate with the external stock management system. This meant stock availability in the online shop would be accurate and up-to-date.
The addition of a gallery, news section and e-newsletters meant Genesis could keep the site content fresh and promote the latest offers effectively.
Benefits
Genesis Sports can now retain complete control of the website, with the ability to upload new products and images, send e-newsletters, re-design sections of the site and change all content.
It was important for the Puma brand to be incorporated into the existing Genesis brand and for users to be able to easily view and order products online.
